Parenting: Affirmative Toddler Transactions Helps In Shaping A Confident Adult

After a long time, here is a post from the world of psychology :-)

Do you have a toddler at home? As much as you are excited about the fact that your little baby is now up and running, you must also be exhausted at keeping pace with your toddler's incessant energy.

So what does being in the age group 1-3 years mean?

According to Erikson's Psycho-social model, the stage is known as Autonomy Vs Shame:

  • The child's universe expands beyond the mother - the primary care taker. The child understands that its universe includes different other things and develops a sense of curiosity.
  • It is at this stage the child begins to explore its environment.
  • The child develops a feeling of self-control and a sense of independence
  • Successful development at this stage, leads to autonomy and self-confidence.

During this stage, you will see your child wanting to do everything on their own. Adults at home are on their toes preventing the child from exploring as they fear the child might get hurt. Is it the right thing to do? How should we handle their enthusiasm? Let us understand how does a child develop a sense of control and independence at this stage? - Exploration and Achievement.

The child feels a sense of accomplishment when it climbs the sofa on its own. Have you seen the smile on the child's face when it does something naughty as we call it? To the child, he/she has done something incredible by carrying an household article from one room to another. It is natural for a child to meddle with things, carry articles, dump them in corners, climb over stools/tables/beds at this age. The child gains a feeling of self-control by experimenting with the objects in its world. When a child achieves its target it builds their self-confidence. If the child is not allowed to experiment then, the child develops a sense of doubt on its own abilities and feels ashamed.

What do we need to do as a parent?

  • Stop stopping the child from experimenting. Let the child explore its environment. By preventing, the child experiences self-doubt and grows into adult who lacks confidence in his abilities.
  • I am often asked the question, "How can I let my child play with electric socket knowing that it would dangerous?" I often see parents being over-cautious and stopping the child from doing anything. Be cautious but not restrained.
  • Ensure that dangerous objects are not within the child's reach.
  • Create an environment for the child to explore at home. It could be a small corner/room filled with objects that the child can meddle with. The objects need not necessarily be toys.
  • Be around when the child is practicing to climb.
  • If the actions your child attempts are too dangerous, distract the child but don't say NO to the child.
  • A bump here and there is a part of growing up, don't get anxious.
  • Finally, it is the right age to get your child toys that help in development of motor skills.
It is seen that many adults who lack confidence have had protective parenting in their childhood. Nothing to take away from the parents, they did what they believed was best for the child. But now we know that by being overly protective we hinder the child's natural development process. Developing a sense of autonomy and good self-worth is essential to take on challenges ahead in life.

Allow your child to explore, stay calm and smile with your child.

Are you depressed?

How do you stay positive when everything around is sinking? Th answers i hear from people around are, 'Stay Positive', 'Tomorrow will be a better day', 'Things don't look so bad' and so on. Though all of these are true but, at that moment when you feel like screaming out loud, none of these is a consolation!

Clinical depression is a totally a different ball game. I am just talking about how lightly we use the word, "Depression" in our everyday life - 'Such a depressing day', 'i am feeling so depressed', 'life is depressing'. Slip offs here and there turns the day into a depressing one. For some, even a boring day translates into a depressing day.

It doesn't really matter what the really cause for the mood swing is,  it is inevitable! Everyone wants to get back to the best of their moods but fail. If a series of events in life doesn't go your way, then it gets even more difficult to find solace. One-off incidents are easier to adjust and major life changing events may need professional help, but what do you do with these miniscule bits of sporadic issues that creates disturbance to ripple your mind? They aren't too big to cry over and they aren't too small to ignore. Have you been in a situation like that? How do you pick yourself up?

The best things to do that can help you see the lighter side, while you are pushed to the corner.

  • Eat, Eat, and Eat - Food can change moods, try eating your favorite food or fulfill the urge of your taste buds at that moment; it pays off. I remember hogging on a chocolate truffle cake and a blueberry mousse for lunch at work, when i actually didn't feel like eating, cause i was so troubled. It made my day! A friend chided, "And you didn't want to eat!"
  • Music - Do i even have to mention this? But, yeah when you are down, you need someone to remind you! Play some music and get involved! Don't let the music haunt you; never play music that gets you thinking. Shake your legs, minds and hands to the music.
  • Movies - Some movies can really lift your spirits up! Try tuning in to a movie that has a good uplifting message. The brilliance of movie making can also brighten your day.
  • Walk - Get out of your concrete building and take a walk in the park/garden. If you are someone who admires nature - this is for you.
  • Talk to a friend - Now, this is something we all attempt but doesn't always give you the high. Choose your friend correctly; someone who can listen without an opinion. Advices at that point of time can infuriate more and those 'too good to be true' statements can bog you down further. Universal truths can be bitter too; when you are battling a down swing, you will never have ears for these. So, just be wise with your choice.
  • Write - Writing/blogging can be a wonderful let out. Transfer everything from your mind to paper - it's just feels so light. Blogging can inhibit your feelings, cause no matter how much we deny it, we are humans and very conscious of others around. Blogs do help depending on the intensity of the issue.
  • Others - Indulge in any activity that switches you off from the world. Photography/Cooking/Gardening/Painting - Nurture your interest, it helps during a difficult phase. A person with no hobby cultivated endures hard during a low phase of life.
Any of these will only help lighten your mood and let go of that 'bad' lurking emotion, yet it is important to indulge in any one of these before you get to handling the issue. A disturbed mind can't seek a solution and when you are down in the dumps, it's no use trying. You still have to deal with the issue.

Courtesy:Google

Once you feel better, you can look at the larger picture. Issues that can be sorted and for which you have devised a solution, never makes you feel broody; identifying a solution turns the problem into a challenge. It's those things that are out of control that annoy, aggravate and agitate. And sometimes the weird mind can feel low for no apparent reason too.

If circumstances are not in your favor and you are waiting for a response from the environment, then to just keep yourself going and not be let down; indulge in these simple pleasures of life. Brace yourself - waiting can be excruciating!

Embrace Acceptance to handle Emotional Disturbances

Have you ever wondered why you end up fighting with someone you love? Yes, we tend to argue, fight & opine in anger with people whom we love dearly. We believe God has bestowed us to be their guardian angels. In believing that, we tend to do everything for their good. It is natural to render care when we love someone, but do we even take a minute to reflect, if that is what they really want to do? Yes, we believe that we are doing things in their best interest but isn't it not their life? Don't they have a choice? We end up hindering them from having their own personal experience of an event and thereby disturbing their destined life.

We fail to realize, in our desperation to help them get the best out of their life, we force many things on them. Our intentions are right, but our actions aren't. Why do we fight with someone? Mostly when they don't see our point of view. Everyone has a right to their own perception of a certain situation. You can show them the other side but can't enforce them to view it like the way you do. Experience is the best teacher and so they will learn through experiencing it. Yes, our role is that of a guardian angel that shows the various possible ways and stands by, to let you take your own actions and so should we be too.

The key to balanced relationships is the ability to see other person's view and respect it. Acceptance leads to healthier discussions with neutral emotional ebbs.

It's not just the case in relationships among two people but also in a relationship with self. Yes, we share a bond with our own self and that requires same treatment as well. Self-acceptance is the key to peaceful living. Many a times, we don't accept our own actions; our own decisions; our own responses leading to discomfort. It is important to accept your own self for the world to accept you. If you have observed small kids, they are so blissful in acknowledging their efforts. You might have noticed a kid dance all by herself, singing to her own tune and clap for herself at the end. Yes, that's self-acceptance. You need to approve your own self! When we begin to accept the events(favourable & unfavourable) that occur in life - be it your own action or a universal response to your action - we begin to relax; gain composure and our mind is still enough to look for an appropriate course of action.

Next time, when you are angry, upset or disturbed - ask yourself - what is that you are resisting? Once you find your resistance, take a few deep breathes and begin to accept it the way it appears and ask what next - you will find an answer!

"What you resist, persists" - Carl Jung
"Acceptance is the way to bring in harmony"

Power of the Human Mind

Whenever i sit to discuss/explain the Human Mind, the first question i ask of people is:

Where is the Human Mind?

Some associate it with the brain while few others with the heart. The smarter few say, "Not Sure!"

The brain and the heart are physical entities. As i explore more on this topic, i am made to believe that Science & Spirituality are one and the same. They are 2 means to one destination.

Mind

I am saying it here cause some of what i am writing may not/cannot be explained by Science but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Read my post on Does Science define Reality?

Ok, now to the mind. Mind is a ethereal entity!! To explain it in computer terminology, Brain is the hardware while the Mind is the software. Our Mind processes zillion information and stores them.

The mind is divided into the Conscious Mind(CM) and Subconscious Mind(SM). The CM takes care of our voluntary actions. It gathers data from the external world and interprets it using the SM. CM on its own can't take any decisions.

Let's say we are just born and our Minds are empty - clean sheet of paper. How does our mind work? A good insight into how our Minds work can help you solve many life problems. *Promise*

As a baby, we take in inputs from several factors predominantly, Society, Education, Environment and Religion. The CM checks for a file in SM for a specific experience ( say eating chocolates), doesn't exist in the beginning. It stores a new file named chocolates as positive experience. Now, second time when someone offers chocolates, the CM checks SM - positive experience. Ok, accept chocolates.

So all our experiences are stored in SM as positive or negative experience. CM acts accordingly to previous experience alone.

What is positive and what is negative? This is decided by socio-economic conditioning among others. In other words, our Belief System. If our family teaches us Lying is a sin, our belief system instructs lying is a sin, so we won't lie.

This is a straightforward explanation to How our Mind works. You can apply it to any given situation and see that, it indeed works that way.

What happens over time is too many files with complex parameters feature in, confusing our own self ;-) On a same subject, one experience would be positive, another negative - then what would our mind do?

It is important to understand, most of what we do is unconsciously driven or precisely Subconsciously driven. Unless and until, we become aware of our subconscious self, reasoning out many of our actions will only be futile. Meditation and Yoga is one powerful tool to gain control of your subconscious mind. These are reasons why i say Science & Spirituality are twin-sisters. Just the mere understanding that our actions are driven by our Subconscious Mind would bring in a lot of awareness which becomes the key to healing our soul.

Living your fear!

In sequel to Facing your Fear, here I want to narrate my personal experience of coming face to face with my fear.

It took me many years to even realize that I am scared of doing this. I don’t know to swim and never ever gave it even a thought!

While I was in my teens and water sports were gaining prominence in our country, I happened to go to a place called Mehta water splash which house slides and pools. All my friends had a time of their life coming down the winding slides. I stood very apprehensive to put my first foot forward. I spent the day in the tiniest pool while my friends took up bigger challenges.

I am not sure, how things would have been if someone tried to allay my fears. No one did and I returned home content with my rendezvous in the kid’s pool.
On the contrary, I love the ocean! I dare into the deep sea and just love being among the waves.

I grew up unaware of any of these unconscious emotions till the day I decided to learn swimming or should I say till the day I was asked, “Why don’t you learn to swim?”

Just married and my husband wanted to spend some time at the pool. I bravely accompanied him till the pool and sat by, happy with my feet kissing the water. It is when he pulled me did I realize I don’t like being in.
“I don’t know to swim. So, why should I come in?”
“Why not, just relax!”
“No! I will drown.”
“Don’t be silly! You won’t drown in a 6 feet pool”
“You are crazy!” and I rushed out of the pool.

I sat and watched tiny-tots have a merry time in the pool. That night, I realized I fear I might drown. I don’t trust myself to take my foot off the ground!

Next day again, he cajoled me to enter the pool. I entered with great spirits inspired by the children bravely paddling their feet. I could never take my feet off nor could I immerse my head in.

I was determined to learning swimming. I was determined to face my fear.
Even then, I was not daring enough to enroll myself in a class. I didn’t trust anybody! I couldn’t trust myself into the hands of a new tutor. Just the thought of learning to swim in a new environment for dreadful.

But, I was resolved to learn. I decided He would be my tutor. I trusted only him with my life ;-)

I wanted a tutor who would listen to me and who better than your husband!
Many days and years passed. I never got an opportunity to swim. Neither did I create one. In between, I got one off chances and began slowly to get comfortable being in a pool or to take a dip with faith!

Today, in a country where every home has a swimming pool, my interests revived and I pestered him to take me to the pool. Lack of time on his side procrastinated things a bit but I was determined.

Finally now, I am in the pool taking my swimming lessons. I am a scared, sluggish and slow and can take the life out of my instructor but am also focused, arduous and patient!

Yes, I can now float on my own – with a little help (my instructor would say!)
The process has been rewarding! Cognitively, it has helped me understand myself better, my thoughts and my trepidations. When I actually did float, the feeling is inexplicable. To me, the end result does not matter, it is the process that does. I knew one day I will swim but how I do that was the challenge!

The moment one comes face to face with the fear and conquers is a defining moment!

I shared a love-hate relationship with water. Now, am turning it into an absolute love!

Facing your fear!

It is believed that we, as a living entity are born with just 2 fears – Fear of Fall & Fear of Sound!

Yes, only 2 fears then, can you imagine every other fear has been acquired through our living on earth experience?

In psychology and related science, it is believed that during the creation of this physical universe, there were loud explosions and we did fall off from a distance. It is similar to the big bang theory of creation. Hence, we inherently hold these two fears. Let me try to relate this to our current existence. Have you felt like you were falling from somewhere while you sleep? It is a common phenomenon that most of us experience during sleep. We even get up scared at times. Next, when you are deeply engrossed in a conversation and if your mom breaks a saucer in the kitchen, would you be shocked for a second? Generally when we hear a sudden noise, we feel our stomach churn! There is queasy feeling in our guts! These are experiential proves of these 2 inherent fears surfacing from within us.

All of us have some kind of fear, whether we like it or not! Have we ever tried to understand our fears, from where they come and tried to deal with them? We let them be!

Fears could be anything; fear of darkness, fear of water, fear of heights, fear of closed places, fear of lizards, cockroaches and crawly creatures, fear of flying and many others.

Most of these fears would have originated in our early childhood. Children learn from their Initial experiences of interacting with a physical universe! Negative/undesired outcomes create fear in the minds. With more experiences re-affirming the initial experience, it forms a fear deep inside.

Just being scared is totally different from harnessing a fear. We tend to be scared of trying new things – that’s perfectly ok! Some people I have seen are extremely scared. They would never ever do something that they are scared; they can even bring the roof down! Unimaginably scared!

Now that we realize our fears were only acquired, shouldn’t we try to let go of them. Facing your fear is the most exhilarating way to let go of your free. The process is truly heart rendering. Like in the movie ‘Zindagi Naa Milage Doobara’, the moment you conquer your fear is a life changing moment!

Why is it important to let go of our fear?

Because, a fear hinders our progress unconsciously.

Identify one of your fears and eliminate it! It heals your soul.

Sequel - click here

Foot Note: It is important to go through the process slowly and steadily. Identify and expose yourself to the fear gradually. For Example: If you are scared of lizards, instead of avoiding them, try to face the situation by staying there. Take help from people at home to throw it out instead of seeking some shelter. Facing your fear does not mean, you go collect 100 lizards and let them crawl over you and say, “I Did it’! You may faint in palpitation if you try heroic stunts. People who have Phobia’s and extreme fears should take clinical help.

Discovery of self

Studying psychology helps not only to understand the psyche of others, but also your own self. I remember being very curious in the First year to interpret my results of the psychological test that we take in our experimental class. It helped me ascertain certain characteristics that I possess and confirm the rest. When I sat to take up the test this year, little did I know there would be a significant difference in the results. Have I changed in less than year? Yes I have.

It came as a surprise to me initially, but then with every day, I realized my views/opinions had changed over the year. I didn’t have to complete the test and wait for the result, I knew even while attempting to answer those questions. I was quite aware of my answers – how I picked a different option from the last year. The tests aren’t the same, the questions are different but they intrinsically determine your trait. I was aware of the transformational journey I am enduring but to capture it in form of empirical results was quite revealing! The change within triggered off when I attended Level-1 Clinical Hypnosis course early this year and from then have been experiencing new realms.

In one of the lectures, my professor shared an interesting observation. He said when people meet after a long while and exchange pleasantries, we take pride when the other person remarks, “You haven’t changed a bit, you are just the same even after 10 long years.” He told us, if one doesn’t change it only implies he hasn’t grown and is still immature. It’s definitely a point to ponder, I was able to relate with his observation, and most of us do feel good about staying the way we are. Why don’t we like to grow? We tend to equate not changing to not having acquired any bad traits. Negative co-relation of events is the way human mind works; we have programmed ourselves to be so. Having not changed also means we have failed to progress! The question of whether the change has done you good/bad is a different implication to mull over. The willingness to change holds the key to transformation.

Memoirs...

To begin with, I am glad that I managed to attend my contact classes, I still remember when I applied for the course I was a little worried if I will be able to allocate the time the course demanded. Looking back, I realize if you have an honest desire, the universe will help you fulfill it! Thank You.

The experience this time around was different from the last year in more than one way. Last year was more about comprehending the system in place and wondering about a new subject, this year around the admiration for subject grew on one side; on the other we had loads of fun!

As we were already attenuated to the system, it was easier to get our work done on time – a cake walk! We had plenty of time on hand, and lot of people around staying together, just translated to more fun. We spent most of the evenings together, walking around the streets of the small town. If one had to make the evening special then it had to be a temple visit! There is definitely an aura around temples that is inexplicable. It is just so wonderful to sit in a temple premise, stare into the open sky and listen to your friend talk ;) And just when you are to wind up, you realize they are distributing ‘Prasadham’, as you extend your hands to help yourself, yummy ‘Kozhukattai’ are placed onto your palms. Sure we ate loads of them, smacking our lips, to our heart’s content.

In a small town, what can keep you excited and on your toes? Food!! We conducted several experiments to make sure our taste buds were working perfectly fine ;) “Bring it on” was the only phrase uttered when we entered the restaurants! I can’t leave this space without mentioning about the Ice creams @ SVS, the stack of south Indian tiffin @ SR and the long wait @ MC to get to the Chicken legs! The biggest entertainment of the stay was our visit to the theatre to watch a movie – the excitement over entering the cinema hall and grabbing your seats first just died down as the movie progressed ;) Nevertheless a first experience to relish. Our craving for good food didn’t stop with venturing at nights; we even found a shack for lunch that served mouth watering home food – Can’t beat their fish curry – yummy!

The lessons were interesting at times, boring otherwise. We definitely did get pointers to many other sources – the best you could expect out of a few days contact program. We were provided glimpses of variant theories; I could draw parallel to Eastern psychology/philosophy - interesting bits to be explored further. The lectures in parts stimulated many thoughts and questions, reading more books and closely working with experienced professionals only would help one garner more knowledge and expertise. The course ends with appearing for theory examination mid next year but the learning will continue.

Why we behave the way we do ?

What drives human behavior? Our belief system. Why do some people engage in philanthropic activities while others indulge in theft? The underlying beliefs that govern their actions are different. Our beliefs are not rooted just to the age old cultural systems prevalent in the society; it is nurtured by our parents, schooling, friends, community and the myriad of experiences that life offers.

Our actions inadvertently reinforce our beliefs. We derive our attitudes from beliefs that are rules governing our lives. All is well when our actions unify with our beliefs, but such is not life. The discords in our lives occur when our behavior conflict with our beliefs, resulting in elevated state of tension such as guilt, anger or frustration.

For instance, someone who believes eating chocolate truffle pastries add calories will try to avoid buying pastries. The belief can get strengthened over time through personal experiences of having put on weight after eating pastries or having observed friends who eat pastries put on weight. Either way the belief is getting stronger, hence this person is sure to avoid pastries even if offered at parties, but she was coaxed into having a pastry at her friend’s party. Now there is a conflict in her behavior. How is she going to feel? Maybe guilty. Her mind is not going to rest the night. This is the most trivial of examples to elucidate the frictions we experience in our daily lives.

How do you think we reduce this state of dissatisfaction? We can either change our behavior, belief or can add reasoning to our behavior. Is it easy to avoid pastries? Or is it easy to change our belief to,’ little bit of pastry eating wouldn’t add calories’? ;) Most often the easiest is to supplement reasoning – I read an article that says eating fried items adds more calorie than pastry. Who are we fooling around here?

In case of Smokers, our social belief system emphasis, “Smoking is injurious to health”. In spite of this widespread belief we have many smokers in the society. The behavior is so hard to alter that we tend to reason our actions. I don’t have to give you sample of those reasoning’s, do I? We have all heard enough of it right! ;)
In certain other situations, we go to the extent of altering our attitudes. Yes, it is easier to alter our beliefs rather than our behavior. As teen-agers we would have been encouraged to form attitudes that late night partying is not appropriate, but with time we change our attitude and stay out all night :)

Our beliefs and attitudes are evolving constantly. Negative connotations aren’t inevitable. People who are frustrated with the conflicts in their actions and beliefs can get into depression. In trying to reduce this conflict some may stray into illegitimate, antisocial and unethical paths. We are negotiating conflicts endlessly; the more aware we are in this mind game, the more adaptable we become as humans in the society.

As promised in this post I have tried to explain the theory behind attitude formation and human behavior. This theory is referred as ‘Cognitive Dissonance ‘in social psychology.

I, Me, Myself

Here I am gonna try and bring out a perception that I initially was skeptical about. Several times in our life’s, we would have heard philosophies such as, “Look within”, “It is all in the mind”, “It is the way you perceive others”, “Let go”,” See good, feel good, good will happen to you”, but have we understood the depth of these phrases? Have we put them to constant practice to reap benefits?

Well, it is easier said than done! Is it? Let us first try to understand the essence and digest the meaning for our own minds to accept and believe. ‘Doing’ relatively will become easier.

Raj and Nita were man and wife. Nita always felt her husband had no time for her. Every evening she would pick up a quarrel with her husband on all the mundane domestic needs, not that she rejoiced fighting with her husband, but this helped her get His attention. This became a way of living, creating lot of differences in their lives. Raj could not make her understand, what she meant to him, he would be drawn into the quarrel as well. Nita felt rejected.

Now, here if you see the origin of the problem, Nita felt her husband had no time. It was her perception and she felt rejected. Her feeling of rejection manifested into quarrels, one leading to another, making them feel incompatible.

What did Nita want? Can we say, she wanted to be happy and peaceful? Nita let herself feel low and down by feeling rejected. If, Nita felt good about herself, the feeling of rejection would not have come, rather her husband not spending time with her led her to feel she was not important.

Nita has to look within, and see how she feels, when her husband does not spend time. Does she feel rejected? If so, then she needs to believe herself, why should she undervalue herself, why should she feel down? Is she not important to herself? Does she not feel good about herself? The minute she begins to feel wanted by her own self, she will feel the difference. Yes, by healing yourself, you heal your world.

Any such discomfort in your mind needs to be addressed first, and then pertaining issues will fall in place. Find the impact of the problem on you; what does it make you feel? The origin of that feeling has to be altered. More often, you have been made to believe so, you have perceived yourself so, and then when the world perceives you the same, we tend to find the problem being with the world.

The world is a reflection of our own self!

Let us go little further into Nita’s life, you may even find a pattern of that feeling, Nita might be picking up quarrels with her friends, she might even feel left out at work when decisions are taken, she might even feel her children don’t respect her and hence ordering them around. Yes, all of this is/will bring discomfort to her. Why, because she has let herself feel not important.

Healing is miraculous! Heal yourself, and you will see the universe re-arranging itself.

Extrapolating this perception to a wider scenario, People who have been rejected, who have desired for love, who haven’t been accepted by, are those who are infected by HIV virus. LOL!!!

We are all a system of energy; we are state of being, driven by our consciousness. Everything that happens starts with our consciousness. Physical ailments are caused by the imbalance of the energy system. AIDS affects are immune system, which is controlled by thymus gland, related to the Heart chakra. The seven chakras govern our energy flow. The heart chakra reflects love and compassion. AIDS can be healed by giving and receiving love. Love thy, love the world.

The self- it is vital that you feel peace with yourself, for the world to give you peace. I, me, myself is not about being trapped in the thought of ‘I’ and remain an egotist; it is about understanding that your consciousness is your key.

Dec 2009 - My tryst with Psychology

A break in blogging is inevitable. Instead of rambling over why I wasn’t here, I shall get to sharing what I have missed. Into a new year and so many random thoughts entwined, though I ended 2009 in the most enchanting way.

Ten days away from home for the first time ever in my life, but didn’t feel what one is suppose to ;-) I was looking forward to the opportunity and to the fact that I am finally getting back to studying and studying something that has always intrigued me. The Human Behaviour. It wasn’t any way disappointing, imagine being in a class packed with people from all over the country and of various age groups. Quite an experience! The lectures were no way boring, good food for thought. The schedule was tight that one could never realize anything beyond the present. Experiencing to Live in the present by itself was a worthy experience, how many times does one get to do that in our everyday routine? Though time was hard to account, it wasn’t really strenuous and didn’t demand one to break free. To add to the beauty to the days, i had a good old friend of mine as a companion to partner with me in this aberrant choice of mine. Yes, it did bring in another pleasant dimension to the whole rendezvous. We spent most of the evening talking about people and psychology and wondering if at all our busy urban lifestyle would permit us to take any of these learning’s in? Talking was one activity that we did from dawn to dusk. When you get to do what you want, you tend to add distinctness to your act which you never would otherwise. That’s what we did. At the end of 10 long days, we did want to head back home, but definitely knew we will miss the very feeling of being with the self. 2 months after the classes, still feels fresh. Looking forward to the classes next year.

A nice road trip, with many special moments and enthralling experiences wrapped up the year. I didn't know then it would be a beginning..
